Riley Hughes Flanagan
January 24, 2008 - October 24, 2016
We lost our little buddy and best friend on October 24, 2016
He was diagnosed two weeks prior with cancer, a tumor by his heart and one on liver.
He was blessed by the Monsignor the Sunday prior to his death.
Over his last 2 weeks he had a few really bad days, but over his last week seemed to rebound. He was ok the morning of his death but by noon (2 1/2 hours) he could not stand. I rushed him to vet to see what we could do, but they said he was very sick and was most likely was his time. I could not let them put him down at that point, I called Bill and Lauren and they both headed over.
I took him outside to enjoy the sun and fresh air, he loved laying in the sun. I said 2 Our Fathers, made the sign of the cross ask that he not suffer then ask his human Nana (Diane) who died of cancer 6 years ago this week to help him. I told Riley it was OK and that his Nana was there for him. He laid in my arms, turned his head to look at me, turned away and took a few breaths and died in my arms in the sun with the breeze blowing.

His Nana (just loved him) died of cancer
Riley died of cancer
His Nana died 6 years ago this week
We went out to buy a statue as a remembrance of him after and found this cool Japanese Lantern for our garden. When we got it home we see it was made in 2008, Riley was born in 2008.
He is at peace now and gave use so much joy.
